Have you ever thought about ordering groceries over WhatsApp??

Yep... it's on your way...

Because it is one of Mark Zuckerberg's super app dreams...

Soon, WhatsApp users in India will be able to order their groceries. This is our first-ever end-to-end shopping experience on WhatsApp.

Almost everything can now be ordered using an app and delivered to your home, including takeout food, groceries and other items. WhatsApp parent Meta recently announced a new partnership with JioMart, an online supermarket run by Reliance Industries, an Indian conglomerate, that will enable WhatsApp users in India to purchase groceries directly from the WhatsApp app.

With over 500 million users, India is WhatsApp's largest market and businesses there rely on the app to communicate with employees and customers.

Following its $19 billion acquisition of WhatsApp in 2014, Meta's new grocery ordering business in India may help WhatsApp further monetize. WhatsApp doesn't make money from direct advertising like Facebook and Instagram do, which are other sites owned by Meta. Rather, companies pay WhatsApp to provide them the option of messaging potential clients who click on Facebook or Instagram advertisements.

How does it work??

To begin shopping, WhatsApp users simply need to send the word "hi" to JioMart's phone number. The chatbot for JioMart replies with a list of groceries that can be ordered. Users enter their addresses into the app and use it to make grocery payments.

The main objective of this partnership is that people in India, especially those who have never shopped online before, can easily shop through Jio mart's catalog available on WhatsApp. Without leaving the WhatsApp chat, customers can add things to their cart and make a payment to finish the purchase.

“The JioMart on WhatsApp experience will transform how millions of businesses in India communicate with their customers, delivering unparalleled ease and convenience to people's buying experiences."
